The last 3 days have been very rewarding to watch Miss Myah returning to more of her normal self!
She has done her spin around move a few times, mostly when she’s excited. There have been a few occasions where she runs almost as if she has 4 legs. (less hopping)
I had originally started weaning her off the Tramadol first. then when she had her stitches removed, last Friday, the doc told me to discontinue the rimadyl first, and then taper off the Tramadol. He suggested that I give her the occasional Tramadol, if she is overdoing it. So I’d be using it more for a chill-pill than a pain pill. That actually makes sense to me. Yesterday was the first day I did not give her either Tramadol or rimadyl! I have still been giving her the gabapentin. Today I will try giving her only one dose, rather then the 2 per day she’s been taking. I’ll just watch for twitching muscles, or trembling.
She seems to be doing very well with knowing when to say ‘when’. I have to admit I feel like I should hold her back a bit more, but my gut tells me to let her be. Yes, she has overdone it a few times. However she seems to really learn from those experiences. I think it may be some of that ‘standard-poodle-super-intelligence’? (or maybe its just good old dog-sense.)
Myah still craves Extra TLC, which doesn’t bother me. I sometimes wonder if she will get too spoiled, but again, my gut says it all good. Having her working at the store gets her lots of extra love from some of the clients. Myah has always done the classic “Retriever-Lean” where she leans into the person giving her scratchies or rubs. As a Tripawd, she is a leaning machine! Everyone, me included, enjoys that she is so comfortable relaxing against them. A display of her unconditional trust and love. <3
The only downside of her being around so many different people is that many of them feel, and verbalize, sadness when they see her. I can tell that bothers her a bit. She is so empathetic! Although she will just have to adjust to those feelings from strangers. Her close friends and family are always upbeat and praising her progress. Today a woman came into the store, that had never been in before. She asked permission first, and then spent maybe 10-15 minutes on the floor with Myah, massaging her and giving her a constant stream of quiet praise and positive reinforcement. Myah and I clearly enjoyed that!
Sorry no photos or videos today, my lunch break is about over. Please stay tuned… Same Tripawd Channel, random Tripawd times. 😉

PS: Myah says she is almost ready to start adding her own content here. Mostly she has expressed interest in replying to all her fans that have commented. I know there is a dog-to-keyboard-interface around here somewhere?

Great to hear Myah is doing so well!
One reminder- be sure you title your blog posts otherwise members can’t access your post. The title of the post acts as the link.

We’re working on that keyboard Myah, hang in there!
I agree, people shouldn’t feel sorry for you or any Tripawd, because you are true heroes, the strongest of the strong, bravest of the brave and awesome of the pawesome! And besides, you have one more leg than most silly humans! Duh!
