Days 12-16: The videos say it all!

Author: myah | Filed under: Read the POSTS!

Myah’s second week at work, (and her 12th through 15th days after her surgery), were very exciting!

My previous prediction that the week would just keep getting better came true. There were daily improvements, as she began to return to more of her normal habits and activities.

Rather than ramble on about all of her post-op FIRSTS, I made a video!

This video starts off with the Fetch Collar Video from Monday that I had trouble inserting. (I’ll stick to YouTube from now on…See the 4/11 post.) The video continues with photos and videos I took over the next 3 days.  She is excelling with her “Tripawd Trot” making me have to hustle when I walk her, just to keep up!  On day 14, I decided to video her while I gave her some basic commands, just to see how she did them.  Other than ‘sit’, these were all ‘Post-op firsts’ including laying down, and then sitting again, and sitting up ‘pretty’.

I thought it was pretty funny when I asked her to spin around, She literally growled out a clear [to me] sentence that explained how she wasn’t ready for that trick yet. You may be able to hear her on the video. (‘Spin-around’ is one of her favorite tricks to do! It really gets her excited. It’s also the trick I use to get her to wipe her feet when she is coming into the house with wet feet.  [The command “spin-around” serves to make her get extra paw to rug contact on the welcome mat, before walking into the house.  The wetter her feet are, the more times I ask her to spin around. ]

Here (on YouTube) is several videos and photos spliced together:

Starting Friday night, we had a really impressive Spring snow storm!

I need to preface this by saying that we live in a snow shadow zone, at 8200ft elevation.  we tend to get the most snow totals in the entire Denver/Boulder metro area. I’ve lived up there 22 years, and I would bet that we have seen at least 15 storms over 50 inches.  We have had two storms, in particular, that had a 84 inch and 72 inch totals!

So we received 52 inches of snow from Friday night to Sunday afternoon!

This video was taken when I was taking a break from the snow removal.  I let Myah out of the house for some exercise. Myah really wanted to walk to the mailbox with me, another favorite activity. But there was no mail delivery due to the storm.

So that is what she is trying to convince me to do in this video.  This was the most excited I have seen her since the surgery!  (She always gets excited in the new snow anyway)  The snow doesn’t “look” like 4 feet, but this was wet snow, that compacted a lot.  I had completely cleared away the 18-20 inches of snow the previous afternoon. You can see the total snow accumulation on my jeep.

Murphy (also front leg) loves to sit pretty…for awhile it seemed like he would just randomly sit pretty whenever he would want our attention! lol It must be easier to do.
    Myah’s looking great!

Looking good Myah! I love that she told you she wasn’t ready for spin around!
My current Tripawd is a little pug mix rear amp named Elly. I adopted her as a Tripawd so I didn’t go though the surgery/recovery this time. We have been working on commands and tricks- mostly to gain confidence and work on core strength. She has recently learned to sit pretty, but holds my hand with her paw since she doesn’t have much to sit on! Great core strength exercise.
Keep up the good work Myah!
